PROBLEM
A 50-year-old man complains of pain in his left hip. What is your impression of this film of his pelvis?

ANSWER
The correct diagnosis is aseptic necrosis of the left femoral head. Note its spotty area of radiolucency and the increased density of its superior portion as compared with the right femoral head.
