PROBLEM
A 50-year-old woman is being seen for a painless soft
tissue mass in the anterior aspect of her thigh. What
is your interpretation of this lateral projection of
her thigh?

ANSWER
The correct diagnosis is lipoma. Note the radiolucency
of the mass in the soft tissues of the anterior thigh.
Fat is more translucent than soft tissue and permits
an easy diagnosis.
